Dr. Villanueva-Uy is the 5th Director of the Institute of Child Health and Human Development, a Clinical Professor at the University of the Philippines College of Medicine, an Assistant Chair for Research at the Department of Pediatrics UP-Philippine General Hospital (PGH), Division Chief of the Department of Pediatrics at PGH, and the Head of the Neonatal Intensive Care Unity at Dr. Jesus Delgado Memorial Hospital.
Dr. Villanueva-Uy received her MD at the UP College of Medicine and her MSPH at the UP College of Public Health. She completed her clinical and research fellowship in neonatology at the Wayne State University-Children’s Hospital of Michigan and Hutzel Hospital, Detroit M.I. Dr. Villanueva-Uy has co-authored and mentored several studies on Kangaroo Mother Care (KMC) and breastfeeding and has lectured on topics relating to neonatal diseases.

Dr. Michelle Ylade is a medical doctor and an epidemiologist. She has been conducting research since 2008 as a sub-investigator in clinical trials and doing epidemiologic research conducted by the Pediatric Infectious Disease Section of the Philippine General Hospital and De La Salle Health Sciences Institute. She worked on research mainly involving vaccine preventable diseases such as influenza, Neisseria meningitidis, hepatitis B, cholera, measles, pneumonia and dengue. She is also working on climate change and health studies.
Dr. Ylade received her bachelor’s degree from De La Salle University Manila (BS Human Biology) and her medical degree from De La Salle University Health Sciences Institute. She obtained her master’s degree from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, London, United Kingdom. She has a diploma in tropical medicine and hygiene from The School of Tropical Medicine and Global Health Nagasaki University, Nagasaki, Japan.

Dr. Josephine Aldaba earned her Bachelor’s degree in Physical Therapy and MD from the University of Santo Tomas. She completed her residency in Pediatrics at the Philippine General Hospital. She has been involved in the conduct of various clinical trials and advocacy programs on smoking cessation, tuberculosis control, and early pediatric literacy development.
She assisted in the development and implementation of several manuals on smoking cessations, field surveillance of vaccine-preventable diseases (rotavirus and acute meningoencephalitis syndrome), health supervision guidelines on children for general pediatricians, and risk preparedness and disaster impact assessment tools on health systems. As part of the National Institutes of Health, she is involved in research on various public health topics like tuberculosis, child abuse, immunization practices, and vaccine-preventable diseases like Japanese encephalitis, rubella and dengue.
